"I have a tendency to write too much material for our comics, a sometimes-inhibitory habit that butts against the necessary requirements of our limited format. This comic is a more egregious example of that propensity, not for its cluttered exposition (as is usually my leaning and ultimate compromise) but for its too-long sequence of gag panels. I actually included a note in my e-mail that suggested trimming one or two panels to better let the work breathe, but that message fell through somewhere. Still, I like the joke, compressed though the pretty pictures are."
