This week’s comic was brought to you today via a sneaky double-cross at the bottom of the page. Have no fear; though I may have scoured the four corners of the earth for all things Pac-Man, I made sure to leave no stone unturned.
On a more serious note, I devoured the tome of entertainment knowledge that is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. I don't think that I have ever read a book quite that fast. Don't worry though, you will get no spoilers from me. As per usual, the book is excellent from cover to cover. The only downfall to it is the knowledge that this was the last book. The real question is whether my speed record will be broken by this? Only time will tell.
Regarding tile-based isometric strategy RPG's, I’m a huge sucker. And if you understood what I just wrote, you’re probably just as struck as I am. Maybe more so.
From the moment I read the name Soul Nomad and the World Eaters, I knew that I’d found something special. Reading further, I discovered that the backdrop is a land ravaged by four monstrous beasts in a mythology remniscient of the Cthulu stories. Furthermore, the protagonist (my d00d!) is possessed by the Gig, an ancient god who wishes to unleash itself upon the world in addition to these World Eaters. Gameplay, you say? How about building parties represented onscreen by a single unit, in typical compact Japanese fashion. Within that party are front, middle and rear guards established with varying attacks and defenses for each on the battlefield. My head is filled already with the possibilities, and I will likely fantasize on this title for many weeks. It does not arrive stateside until September, by which time I may already have beaten it several times in my mind, its case reduced to a smoking husk.
Asps are indeed very dangerous.
