Back-up Plan

This week’s comic is probably pretty common place amongst gamers nowadays. It’s good to know that our gaming obsession can soldier on even with a trivial loss of electrical power. Of course, every gamer will go into panic mode once the DS’s or PSP’s low battery light flickers on.

I’m falling behind on the console front, with both Okami and Mario Kart whimpering for my attention. It’s really an easy choice in Okami, but Kart requires a play through the single player mode in order to unlock extra karts and characters. Seeing as how Nintendo thought to make Daisy an unlockable character rather than selectable from the get-go, I am now forced to power through the single player mode to get her. Come on, who doesn’t want to hear "Hi, I'm Daisy!" while passing an opponent?

Brief Cardiac Episode

Greetings from Beau’s Eight-Sided Cage of Pain . . .

Okay, so you know how sometimes the title of something, say a website post, has nothing to do with the actual body of work? Well, this is one of those times. I just wanted to get your attention with something snappy and that came to mind. It has been a while once again, and to my loyal readers I am sorry. This will be a quickie update, but I will give more next week. I would like to be a great reviewer, however I am not. So I will tell you about a few gems that I have been playing since last I wrote.

  1. Nanostray 2 for the DS - Absolutely go and get this if you are a fan of top-down and side-scrolling shooters. If you played the first one, then I am sure you already have this. If not, Youtube it and see if it might be your bag. GREAT GAME!
  2. The World Ends With You for the DS - FANTASTIC Japanese RPG craziness. Dual screen combat, one fighter occupying each screen at the same time! Can ya spare some coordination? This is a nice addition to your library if you are a fan of the Japanese style RPGs.
  3. Grand Theft Auto 4; I have the PS3 version. It almost pains me to say that I am enjoying this game very much. Take this not as a review, but a suggestion that you at least give it a go even if you were never particularly bowled over by GTA in the past. I have never been a fan of this series, but yet I spend hours at a time on this title. I won’t say this is a 10 like other are claiming (too many little problems), but I could assign a random numeric of fun like 8.5 or 9.
Until next week!
